When people meet me, the first thing they notice is my high energy and passion for life! (The second thing they usually notice is my outfit!)
I have a love for adventure and fun - no matter where I am!
I was born in LA, and my parents were both working in "The Industry." My mother was a ballet teacher and my father was an actor and acting coach. I practically lived at my parents' studio, and I was on stage performing by the age of 3. This made for an interesting childhood!
However, when I was 9 years old, our family fell on some hard times and we ended up having to leave LA and move to Jackson, Mississippi. Talk about culture shock! However, I tried to make the best if it. I decided to embrace the accent and started speaking in a Southern drawl within hours of our plane landing.
Even though my formative years were limited to small town America, a passion for fashion had already been ingrained in me. I entered beauty pageants just so I could get a chance to wear dresses I designed for myself. In sixth grade, I threw a party at my house, resulting in a frantic shopping trip for a perfect outfit. I dragged my mother to every store I could think of to find a pair of hot pants and go-go boots that I just had to have!!!
But it would be many years later that I had my "Ah-Ha" moment. I was an stay-at-home mom at the time. One of my friends was a full-time pediatrician and mother of 2 kids. She never had time to shop and felt frustrated when it came to finding a style or building a wardrobe. She, like so many other women I know, had a closet full of bits and pieces, but never felt like she had an outfit to wear. She had always admired the way I dressed and expressed her desire for my help.
One day she asked me to take her shopping with a budget of $400.00 to see what I could come up with. That day changed both of our lives. Not only did we have so much fun, but I was able to pull together several complete new outfits for her. She was trying on things that she would have never picked for herself and came out looking like a new woman. She was thrilled, and my new career was born!
I realized then that fashion can be a kind of therapy. Fashion can both help build self confidence and also be a tool to outwardly express who you are on the inside. Everyone has heard the expression, "You are what you eat." After my experience, I fully believe that "You are how you dress!"
So, after 7 years of working with hundreds of women, I have come up with a simple plan called "Tweak Your Chic" that I teach at my Tweak Your Chic Workshops. Find out how you can join in and get all my secret tips at my next workshop!

Shapewear, a pencil skirt, something leopard, a colorful silk scarf, a piece of statement jewelry, and a basic sweater set.

I love how a sweater set and pencil skirt look together - so professional and sexy!

I'm always found in small boutiques around town (Ellie is my ultimate favorite!), and picking up trinkets everywhere I travel.

I recommend anything with moisturizer in it! My favorite lipstick at the moment is Kevyn Aucoin Expert Lip Tint in Floralia Flesh, and I apply Paula Dorf under eye cream from Houppette every day!

Some people try to call me "JJ," but JoJami is just fine!
